Wine Odyssey Poros

The ancient Greeks drank wine by mixing it with water, usually in a ratio of 1: 3 (one part wine to three parts water). The word "wine" refers exactly to the wine mixed with water, while "unbridled" was the unadulterated wine. The amount of wine that was not mixed with water ("unbridled wine") was considered barbaric. The Greeks knew the aging of the wine, which they achieved in buried jars, sealed with plaster and resin.

We visit a modern wine-growing boutique with a modest architecture among vineyards where you will be guided in its premises, you will be introduced to the wine-making process at all stages as bottling, ripening and preservation in cellars and taste through a variety of wines and local delicatessen.

BBQ Odyssey

Mutual assistance, friendship, hospitality, mutual trust, an open and always warm human heart are experiences that characterize social life in our glamping and usually the festivities start with just a glass of wine.

Every Wednesday at Odyssey glamping we learn what the unique Greek words “kefi” and “glenti” mean.

We start our evening with a menu of local grilled vegetables, meat and fish, unlimited wine from our cellar and music of our choice and continue with Greek dances each time depending on the mood of all of us.

The evening can be combined with a dance class by a teacher.

Let’s go for Tsipoura
(Pame gia tsipoura)

A favorite Greek phrase is “let’s go for tsipoura”.

It is that time of the day when we relax by the sea with a glass of tsipouro or ouzo and meze (small amounts of spicy food).

Let's enjoy this special Greek habit in a cozy and welcoming place, which combines the warmth of the fireplace in winter and the wonderful view of the passage and the island of Poros as a backdrop, where in addition to the taste we will also learn the history of each meze.

Wine Odyssey Nemea

If you are an “Oinophilos” (wine enthusiast) then the Region of Nemea has been producing wine non-stop for the last 3.500 years and there are a lot of opportunities for tasting and learning about Greek wine.

Our wine tasting odyssey will offer you a number of wine tastings (usually 2-3 depending on your mood and alcohol tolerance) and a meal.

There are a number of beautiful sights on the way (Including the UNESCO world heritage site, the ancient theater of Epidaurus) that can be included upon request.

For the ones who are passionate about wine, we will let the experts do all the talk. For all the other ones who enjoy it, we will gladly talk about the indigenous Greek wine varieties, wine making methods from ancient times. There are a number of wineries that stand out in our opinion, due to the quality of the wines as well as the space. We are however totally open to visiting wineries of your choice and we always enjoy trying something new.

We will take you there with private transfer early in the morning, upon previous agreement, and organize the wine tasting for you. The cost of wine tasting is not included, as some of you may not want to participate in all the tastings or opt for more premium wines.

The duration of the day trip will be 6-8 hours.

Just like in small towns and villages across Greece, the tradition of the “volta” continues in Poros, when, at sundown, townsfolk come out to stroll the main street or along the shore. On this Poros tour, you’ll taste our Greek heritage by experiencing the volta for yourself. We live a slow, easy paced life on Poros, and tourists are our welcome guests.

You’ll start your Poros tour with a visit to a young local couple, the Vlahos family. Here, you’ll enjoy a fresh, homemade lemonade and an almond cookie, called “amygdalota.” This traditional treat dates back over two centuries, and is one of the most famous Greek sweets, typically served at celebrations like engagements, weddings and baptisms. (And we think your arrival in Poros is a reason to celebrate!)

Your lemonade also comes with a story. It’s made from our island’s own “lemonodasos” — the Greek word for lemon forest or lemon grove. In the ‘70s and ‘80s, the Poros lemon forest was one of the main suppliers of.
